Aggies Know Business! 6th Annual Aggie 100 Shows That from Texas to France, Aggie Businesses are Growing Despite the Challenging Economy

The Mays Business School’s Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship at Texas A&M University announced the recipients of the 6th Annual Aggie 100, honoring the fastest growing Aggie-owned or Aggie-led businesses. The honorees were recognized by more than 600 attendees at a luncheon held at The Zone Club at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field.   College Station (PRWEB) October 22, 2010

These entrepreneurs proved that challenging economic times cannot hold back these hard working Aggie entrepreneurs. The Mays Business School’s Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship at Texas A&M University announced the recipients of the 6th Annual Aggie 100, honoring the fastest growing Aggie-owned or Aggie-led businesses. The honorees were recognized by more than 600 attendees at a luncheon held at The Zone Club at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field.

The Top 10 companies on the Aggie 100 list combined to grow over 1,048 percent in the past two years with the top company, Caltex Energy Inc. of Calgary, Alberta experiencing a compound annual growth rate of 224 percent from 2007 to 2009. Lester, Executive Director of the Mays Business School’s Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship. “We are extremely proud that our Aggie 100 proves that good businesses can and do continue to grow throughout challenging economic times while staying true to the Aggie Code of Honor.” (The Aggie Code of Honor: Aggies do not lie, cheat or steal or tolerate those who do.)

The Aggie 100 focuses on growth as an indicator of job creation, product and service acceptance, and entrepreneurial vision. The Aggie 100 were selected based on compound annual revenue growth rate for the 2007 to 2009 period. In all, companies from six states and three countries were honored at the event. The oldest company earning a spot on the list was founded in 1955.

The Texas A&M Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship (CNVE) provides encouragement, education, networking and assistance to entrepreneurially-minded students, faculty and Texas businesses.
